Dorney Park: Snoopy Rocks the Brand New Good Time Theatre

Allentown, PA (June 30, 2009) – The premiere showing of “Snoopy Rocks On Ice” was held June 30, marking the first full production performance in Dorney Park’s brand new Good Time Theatre, which is now open six days a week. The theater, which was first announced in February of 2009, broke ground on April 1, and was fully constructed in just 12 weeks.

At nearly $6 million, the Good Time Theatre and Snoopy Rocks on Ice Show represents the single largest investment in live entertainment in Dorney Park’s 125 year history. “This is an extra special addition to the Parks already extensive entertainment experience offering that is a great enhancement for families, a primary focus as we celebrate the Park’s 125 anniversary.” said Vice President and General Manager of Dorney Park, Jason McClure.

The handicap accessible and climate controlled Good Time Theatre clocks in at 18,000 square-feet, containing 603 seats and a 60-foot-wide by 35-foot-deep ice stage. The theater features state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. Guests can see the Good Time Theatre, now a prominent feature of the Park’s skyline, located near Dorney Park’s main entrance.

Cedar Fair Entertainment Company who owns the Park has worked closely with Jill Schulz, daughter of the late Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz, to create a stunning work of music, skating, fun and excitement. “Snoopy Rocks on Ice” is a joint production presented by Woodstock Ice Productions and Dorney Park. The show is directed and choreographed by Karen Kresge, who worked with Charles Schulz for 21 years, and has previously piloted ice shows at other parks in the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, sister parks of Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom.

“Snoopy Rocks On Ice” is performed at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. six days a week, as well as an additional show at 8 p.m. on Saturdays. The show runs approximately 30 minutes. The theater is dark on Wednesdays. Admission to “Snoopy Rocks on Ice” is included in the general admission price to the Park. Guests can easily access the Good Time Theatre at any of the schedule show times – but they better get there fast, because Snoopy packs every seat in the house!

Everyone’s favorite beagle himself can be seen with a few of his Peanuts pals, as well as over a dozen world-class skaters. Memorable Peanuts moments are captured throughout the show, such as Snoopy’s battle with the Red Baron, Lucy’s five-cent psychiatric advice, Holiday memories, Charlie Brown’s kite-flying troubles and just some of the Peanuts characters having a good time like they always do.

Catch “Snoopy Rocks On Ice,” now through Sept. 7. Following the regular season, Dorney Park plans to clear the ice in preparation for a brand new Halloween Haunt stage production.

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “FUN.”  In addition to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, Cedar Fair owns and operates ten other amusement parks, six water parks, one indoor waterpark resort, and five hotels.  Cedar Fair also operates the Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy, Calif. under a management contract.
