Busch Gardens Tampa begins next construction project

The Serengeti Express train was supposed to go down Saturday. We received word that it finally went down on Tuesday. The rumors floating around were so that Busch Gardens Tampa could get ready for the first phase of “Project 2011”.

What we found was pretty interesting. New walls up all over. Signs up barring entry and telling everyone that work was being done. New stakes all over the place. From the appearance of things, they are moving the railway over. And it’s being done completely throughout the Edge of Africa section. All kinds of stakes are visible from the Skyride, and if you walk up to the station you can see where they’ve already ripped some up.

Elsewhere in the park, Scorpion is in pieces. It’s only supposed to be down for three days, but for what? It looks as if they are refitting or perhaps just giving an over all cleaning to the aging coaster.

Also, the walls are up and the gates are open over at the old Nightshade Toy Factory. Why? Because they are going to be opening it Friday April 30th for a tour with Haunt Con. If you dont have your tickets yet, you can purchase them here.
