Menchie’s at CityWalk Orlando set to swirl your taste buds into Summer

Universal Orlando is doing work all over CityWalk to bring brand new restaurants, tastes, and flavors to guests. When the final restaurant is completed, Universal Orlando will have a total of 8 brand new venues, some of which are already open.

Red Oven Pizza Bakery, Antojitos, Starbucks, and Cold Stone Creamery are among the four restaurants that have already celebrated their opening earlier this year.

Next to open is Menchie’s, a frozen yogurt bar. Guests have the opportunity to choose from 16 different flavors or the opportunity to swirl some of them together to create an even more delicious frozen treat. While Menchie’s is considered a frozen yogurt bar, they also have a variety of Sorbets as well,  including a featured Summer flavor.

Once you have chosen which type of Yogurt or Sorbet you’d like to have, you then move onto the toppings bar. Toppings range from sugary sweets to cereals and more. There’s really something for everyone, like mini m&ms and coconut shavings. Once you move from there, you’ll move onto a fresh topping bar, which includes fruits and other goodies. And last but not least, you can add hot fudge, butterscotch, or caramel to your frozen creation. While the official Menchies Orlando Twitter account did say that they would have Dole Pineapple as a flavor, as of right now, they don’t. Dole pineapple is very similar to Dole Whip at Disney, and will be a huge hit with the Universal crowd. The flavors look as if they can be changed out easily, as other ice cream and frozen yogurt places do, so guests can expect to see seasonal flavors as the seasons change.

In fact, the Official Dole Soft Serve Facebook page had this to say about Dole Pineapple (aka Dole Whip) at Menchie’s:

Thanks for talking about DOLE Pineapple at Menchie’s! You’re right, the flavors rotate and Menchie’s does rotate in DOLE Pineapple. Our best advice is to keep requesting the flavor and hopefully you’ll see it more and more in the rotation!

At the check out, you will be prompted to place your creation on a scale where it will be weighed. Menchie’s doesn’t charge a flat rate for the yogurt cup, they actually charge by the ounce. This is perfect because you can put as much or as little as you’d like on your creation and pay for what you’re actually getting,  not what the retailers think you might be getting.

On Sunday, June 1st, a revamped Universal Store opened (click here for more info) at CityWalk as part of the huge expansion. Later this month Universal will roll out two more all new venues with Hot Dog Hall of Fame, and then Vivo Italian Kitchen shortly after. The new Hot Dog Hall of Fame will feature iconic hot dog creations from some of our nation’s most famous ball parks, including the loaded Chicago dog and Boston brat.  Universal exclusively partnered with Steven Schussler, the global culinary concept creator behind the popular Rain Forest Cafe, to bring his Hot Dog Hall of Fame concept to CityWalk.
Vivo Italian Kitchen will be located on the ground floor next to Red Oven Pizza Bakery. The new restaurant will immerse guests in the essence of modern Italian cuisine. This original concept restaurant will showcase a contemporary dining atmosphere, allowing guests to watch chefs handcraft pasta from scratch and create classic Italian dishes with a modern twist.

Menchie’s is now open daily, and is located on the upper level of CityWalk.
