Disney brings new tricks and treats to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

It may not be the scariest thing in the world, in fact it’s not scary at all, but Walt Disney World has officially kicked off the Halloween season with their annual “Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party” at the Magic Kingdom. On select nights guests come to the park dressed in their favorite Not So Scary costume for a night full of tricks and treats, and TONS of candy. This year the event has some extra special new features at the party, including a villainous dance party and everyone’s favorite video game duo. We take a look at the event from the very first night, and share some of the new additions to the Not So Scary Fun!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is an extra ticket event, meaning that it’s not included in daily theme park admission. The event runs on select nights, and is fun for all ages. It features trick or treating where the cast hands out gobs of candy in certain designated candy areas. There are also several shows, including nightly fireworks, huge stage shows and of course the Boo To You Parade. Costumes are not required, but are recommended. No masks are allowed and all costumes must be family friendly.

The first new addition to this year’s Halloween Party, is of course, the merchandise. Every year there’s tons of new merchandise specifically for the event, and this year is no exception. There’s tons of new stuff from special shirts, pins and more.

A big collector item are the pins. This year the pins are being sold in a set and are limited to how many are available. Several of the pins are available in very limited quantities individually.

The big collectors item is the Limited Edition Magic Bands. The bands are available only to party guests, and feature Mickey and Minnie in this year’s Party Logo. The bands must be linked to a ticket, but can be changed at a later time, or so we were told.

This year the annual Boo to You Parade features two all new characters. Venelope and Wreck-It Ralph. The two are a super cute addition in the Candy portion of the parade, which features the sweet smells of candy as the duo comes rolling by.

Main Street comes alive during the party this year as lights in all the windows and on the building flicker on and off to the music that plays all throughout the area. The lights really add to the atmosphere and kicks  things up.

Also new this year is Club Villain, a villainous dance party with some of the best baddies in Disney history. The villains have been receiving a ton of attention this year, which kicked off with Maleficent and continued through last month’s Villains Unleashed Party. Club Villain adds some new fun with the chance to not only get your picture with some of the baddest baddies, but also to party with them. While they may be bad, they party hard.

It wouldn’t be a party without some serious munchies. This year Disney fully immerses guests in the Halloween experience with several new treats.

Candy Corn soft serve and Pumpkin Waffle sundaes are just some of the new additions. The Candy Corn ice cream is an amazing mix of warm and sweet, with that creamy candy corn taste. Even if you’re not a fan of candy corn, you can’t go wrong with it. The Pumpkin Waffles are just what you expect, pumpkin filled deliciousness. There’s also several other treats throughout the park, such as specialty drinks. The drinks range from apple, to of course pumpkin in the delightfully delicious to the “oh my god that looks so gross”. Also new this year is a Halloween Meet and Greet with Mickey Mouse. He’s dressed in his Halloween Best and tells jokes inspired by the holiday.
