Disney is getting fans ready for the D23 Expo that is coming up this Summer. The D23 Expo takes place every other year in Anaheim, featuring tons and tons of Disney content meant for Disney fans. After all, D23 is the official Disney Fan Club, and what better way to celebrate Disney and it’s elaborate history with an event for fans?
Disney has been announcing information on what fans can expect this year for quite some time, and it doesn’t end just yet. Disney has plenty in store for fans this year at D23!
On top of all the other great content taking place at D23, fans will also be able to enjoy exclusive concerts featuring Disney on Broadway’s “The Originals”, which features stars from Mary Poppins, Tarzan, and Aladdin.
The concert will take place exclusively for D23 on Saturday, August 15th at both 11am and 2pm at Stage 23. The concert will feature Ashley Brown (from Mary Poppins), Josh Strickland (from Tarzan), and James Monroe Igiehart (from Aladdin), who will all perform favorite musical highlights from the Disney on Broadway catalogue.
Ashley Brown originated the title role in Mary Poppins on Broadway. For her performance, she received Outer Critics, Drama League, and Drama Desk nominations for Best Actress. On a national tour, she starred as Mary Poppins and was awarded for “Best Musical Performance”. Some of her other Broadway roles include Belle in Beauty and the Beast.
Josh Strickland created the leading role for Tarzan. He made his debut in PEEPSHOW in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort and also co-starred in the E! reality show Holly’s World. Strickland is currently performing at Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort in Las Vegas in Vegas!
James Monroe Igiehart, who played the Genie in Aladdin, won a 2014 Tony award for his performance in Aladdin.
Tickets for D23 are still available, and for a limited time will be available at a discounted price. Now through June 30th. After June 30th, tickets will still be available, however the prices will increase. Ticket prices through June 30th are as follows:
