Ubisoft is launching a next gen theme park with Assassins Creed, Rabbids and more!

Video games are the next frontier in entertainment. From movies depicting our favorite characters in new stories, to even more games, and television. Theme parks, however, are a frontier that has been barely been tapped. There are several smaller theme park attractions based on franchises like Angry Birds, but nothing major in the United States. Universal Orlando is building a massive new Nintendo based land, and Carowinds will open a Plants vs. Zombies attraction in 2016. Ubisoft is taking it to the next level and building an entire theme park based on it’s characters. It will include some favorites, as well as new characters, but this next gen theme park will take players and guests to the next level.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures is heading up a large new theme park in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that will see a 10,000 square meter (about 2 acres) development that will feature all new attractions based on such characters and games as Assassins Creed, Raving Rabids, and Just Dance. The new development will partner UbiSoft with Movie Animation Park Studios owner, RSG for the new venue. The estimated opening date is 2020.

“Together we are creating a place where every guest is a player, every ride is a playground, every visit is a game,” said Jean de Rivières, senior vice president, Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “In RSG, we’ve found a partner with a successful track record in working with international brands, a shared ambition to design the family destination of the future, and a wealth of expertise in theme park development.”

“RSG is committed to redefining family fun, and video games have taken an increasingly central role in entertainment for all ages,” said Ramelle Ramli, Chairman, RSG. “Partnering with Ubisoft means we’ll work with their creative teams to develop the first of what we believe will be a revolutionary new theme park experience. We are confident that this partnership agreement highly benefits both parties and consolidates our presence in the global family entertainment market.”

This isn’t the first time that UbiSoft has ventured into theme park attractions. The Raving Rabbids based attraction ‘La Machine à Voyager dans le Temps’  opened at Futuroscope in France in 2013. That attraction is a 4D based simulator that takes guests through time with the Rabbids. There’s a good chance that guests will see the same attraction in Malayasia.

What new attractions do you hope to see based on Assassins Creed and Just Dance?
