Star Wars officially gets underway on Episode VIII as Disney’s theme park plans loom

Now that the Force Awakens has broken records, made a pile of money and given us the first step into a larger world full of new adventures, it’s time to start on the next chapter. On Monday, Lucasfilm officially announced the beginning of Star Wars Episode VIII, and the whole world is excited. At the same time, we are just over a week away from a massive announcement by Disney on what the Star Wars Universe will bring to Disney Parks.sw8_large

The announcement comes as production is starting, with almost the entire original cast returning. The new film will be written and directed by Rian Johnson, and has officially started for release on December 15th 2017.

The film will star Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. The film will also bring in newcomers, Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran. Yes, Dr. Sadler and the Wolfman will both be in a Star Wars film!

If 2017 seems like a long time, you only have to wait until this Christmas for a new Star Wars Adventure as Rogue One will steal their way into theaters in December. Rogue One tells the tale of the team who broke into the Empire and stole the Death Star Plans. We can only hope to see Darth Vader and some other familiar characters roaming around in this side story.

On Sunday, February 22nd, Harrison Ford will give out details on the new Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World. No details on just what he will reveal, but we can only hope that it’s BIG!
