Disney to adapt Peter Pan into live action film!

Off to Neverland! Disney has announced that they will be making their 1953 classic, Peter Pan into a live action film. This news comes as Disney is set to roll out The Jungle Book this Friday. The film is just one more on the slate of animated films that will get the live action treatment.

The new film will be directed by David Lowery, who has directed the upcoming Pete’s Dragon remake. The new film joins several Peter Pan live action films, including last year’s horribly received Pan, which starred Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, and introduced a pre-hooked Captain Hook.

The 1953 Disney animated classic is still seen as THE defining Peter Pan film. Before you get too excited about the new Peter Pan film, remember that the studio still has live action versions of Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, and the Haunted Mansion, just to name a few. It’s not likely that we’ll see this one take flight anytime soon.
