Avatar ride vehicles spotted-Could Disney really be putting guests on the backs of creatures?

Pandora: The World of Avatar is one of the most anticipated, and long in construction attractions at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. The new land promises to truly transport us to this world inspired by the James Cameron films, and will have us riding on the backs of winged Banshees over the planet. While it’s been known that we would be riding a simulator attraction, it was thought that guests would board seats similar to Soarin at Epcot and Disneyland.

According to a new leaked image from WDWNT, that’s not true in the slightest.

The site has a leaked image that shows a rider sitting on the back of a Banshee from the film. The picture is very grainy, but it is clear enough to show what appears to be the ride vehicle. Late last year, Bob Iger said that guests will be able to “feel the Banshee breathing, and all of its motions below you”, which lead to speculation that this very thing might happen.

Make the jump over to WDWNT for even more information, and how this all could fit together.

While the idea is amazing, and the ride vehicles would certainly be one of a kind, it could prove to be a nightmare for ride capacity. It looks as if there’s room for only two people per ride vehicle, at the most. It also looks like it’s going to require a unique safety system to keep the riders in place. Again, that could mean slower load times, which will definitely relate to long lines for the ride.

The attraction is expected to open this summer, but an official date has yet to be revealed.
