Universal Mobile App prepares for Volcano Bay

The latest mobile app update from Universal Orlando is preparing for the resorts third park, Volcano Bay, as it gets closer to opening.

The mobile app now allows guests to do things like book Express Passes, add on dining plans and even purchase three park tickets. One of the biggest new additions is that guests can now add on a credit card and add a pin for Tapu Tapu Pay. The new feature will allow guests to not only pay with Volcano Bay’s Tapu Tapu wristbands, but also set spending limits.

Tapu Tapu will allow guests to access the virtual line for rides, and interact with special features in the park. With the addition of Tapu Tapu Pay, this will completely eliminate the need for credit cards and really any responsibilities in the park.

Another great update will allow guests to link their purchases to their app. This means that the need for physical passes or tickets is slowly going away. With the app, you can now link your annual pass to your phone, and not have a need for a hard ticket. While Disney has MagicBands, you still have to have that physical band. The only other park that currently does this is SeaWorld, which also allows you use your app for annual pass admission, purchases and more.

With the Universal mobile app, you simply present your phone and your picture ID. We have yet to try it out at the turnstiles, so we’re not sure if it’s any easier to use than your hard ticket.

Universal continues its evolution with the latest update, and keeps pushing towards making things easier for guests.
