Dollywood to retire River Battle on September 4th

Better get your last battles in, as the war is ending at Dollywood on September 4th. The signature water ride, River Battle at Dollywood is ending after just nine years at Dollywood. The park said that September 4th will be the last day of operation for the water ride.

As the Dollywood experience evolves, we have several unique and innovative ideas to help families create new traditions and special moments at Dollywood. To prepare for these opportunities, River Battle will be removed at the conclusion of summer. The ride’s final day of operation is Sept. 4. We will share plans about future projects later this year.

The park has been mum on any hints for a new attraction, and there’s no word on whether it will open next year or be saved for another year. River Battle was created by Mack Rides, and was opened in 2008. It was highly themed to the area, and was extremely family friendly, boasting over 800 riders an hour. With the removal of one water ride, hopefully another is on the way. The park is right in the middle of their five year plan, which has encompassed new attractions at both of their parks, the Dreammore Resort and this year’s Great Pumpkin Illuminights this fall.
