Disneyland Resort Announced Huge 700 Room Hotel For 2021

What may just be the biggest development happening at Disneyland this decade, Disneyland has announced a game-changing new 700 hotel resort to be opening in 2021.

Since Disneyland is a very tight the new hotel will take over space currently occupied by Downtown Disney. Everything between the LEGO Store and Disneyland Hotel will be gutted to make way for the new property. This means the AMC Theaters, Earl of Sandwhich, Rainforest Cafe, ESPN Zone and Valet Parking will be moving to Yesterland.

The new resort will combine new retail and dining locations and expand Downtown Disney into the property. It will also serve as a focal point to the Disneyland Resort connecting all of the other 3 hotels, The Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian and Paradise Pier through lush gardens and large plazas. The Downtown Disney monorail station will also receive an overhaul to fit the more contemporary theme of the surrounding hotel.

Also announced today was that Disneyland is abandoning the Eastern Gateway project, something that Disney and the Anaheim City Council have been battling over for well over a year now. Instead of relocating the current transportation hub across the street, Disney will now build TWO additional parking structures along side the new hotel in the current Pinnochio Lot and the Simba lot. Disney still owns the large lot where the planned transportation hub was going to be located, so perhaps we could see ESPN Zone, Rain Forest Cafe and many other casualties of this property end up over there for Downtown Disney East, or the west coast Debut of Disney Springs on that property? Only time will tell.

Construction will begin on the new hotel in Summer 2018 with a projected opening date of 2021.
