New Lagoon show to replace Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Spectacular

In 2012, Universal Orlando took the nighttime show to a whole new level by celebrating its rich 100 year movie history with Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular: 100 Years of Movie Memories. The show used fountains, water screens, music and fireworks to bring dozens of movies to life.

If you didn’t catch it in the five years that it’s been open, you’re out of luck. Universal has announced that the show is now closed.

While that may come as a shock, Universal has announced that they are already hard at work on a brand new show that will take Cinematic Spectacular to the next level. Details are scarce but we do know that the new show will include new animation featuring characters from favorite Universal attractions, a new storyline, new music, lighting and special effects. It really sounds like the technology and show will be similar, using the same water screens and projection features, but the show itself will change.

There’s no timeline on the new show, but we are willing to bet that it will be either later this winter or early next year.
