Video-Super Nintendo World under construction at Universal Studios Japan!

The latest construction update from Universal Japan, courtesy of YukenDoIt, showcases a little bit of the new Super Nintendo World construction site. The new land is being built for a 2019 or 2020 opening date. The new land is expected to include two new attractions, including a Mario Kart ride and Donkey Kong Country Coaster.

Of course, no attractions have been officially announced, and the speculation is all over the place, from proof of concept art, to new attractions…pretty much everybody knows something, but it’s not all the pieces of the puzzle just yet.

Meanwhile, we do get a pretty good idea from the video, that the entrance to the new land will be next to WaterWorld in Japan. The entrance should work to keep the land hidden from the rest of the park, as the land is expected to be built in a similar fashion to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida. That land has the shops and ride buildings surrounding the actual land, so that it’s completely separate from the rest of the park.

If you’re a fan of Super Mario, you’ll know that Mario and Luigi gets to the Mushroom Kingdom by going through the huge green pipes. That will apparently be the new entrance to the land, as guests will get to “warp” to Super Nintendo World through the pipes.

We’re still a good ways off, as most of the new area is just piles of dirt, on what used to be a parking lot.

Before guests will be able to ride with Mario and Donkey Kong, they will be able to take a ride through the world of Final Fantasy. Space Fantasy-The Ride, is scheduled to get the VR treatment early in 2018. The overlay will have guests riding through the world of Final Fantasy.

Be sure to check out all the latest updates in the video below from YukenDoIt, including a look at Christmas at Hogwarts, the new projection show that is now being played nightly at Universal Japan, Hollywood, and Islands of Adventure.
